Winter Registration Updates
Exercise Safety Screening
Winter registration has generated a high demand for exercise Safety Screenings. Our team is working hard to get everyone seen by our Physiotherapy Team. If you have recently requested a Safety Screening appointment, it may take up to 8 weeks due to the recent influx of new participants joining the program. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience as we work on solutions to expedite this process.
Cancelling Classes
As many of our classes are filling up, and some have waitlists, please cancel classes that you can no longer attend so that more people can benefit from the program. For detailed instructions on the process, please view the following video:

Announcing the Creative Collective Project
We are excited to introduce our new initiative, the Creative Collective, which aims to spotlight art created by members of the BC Brain Wellness Program community. Starting in February, the project will showcase one artist each month, in our newsletter, website and social media accounts. Art can be anything from pottery, paintings, photographs, poetry, recipes, gardening arrangements and so much more… we would love to see it all! Art expression can offer a support system that honors feelings and emotions while letting us use our brains in new ways. This project highlights the importance of art in brain wellness and hopes to encourage more people to use art as a form of healthy expression, relaxation, coping, and growth.
For your art to be considered for the Creative Collective project, fill out this Google Form and we will get in contact with you or email us at brain.wellness@ubc.ca with the subject line “Creative Collective”, if you have any questions. |

Community Events
Giller Book Club
Launched in January 2021, the Giller Book Club is one of the Giller Foundation’s initiatives to celebrate Canadian authors year-round. The Giller Book Club celebrates and highlights the books from the previous year’s longlist. The 60-minute discussions uniquely pair the longlisted authors with Canadian icons, other writers, journalists, reviewers, presidents of publishing houses, and artistic figures as interviewers. The Giller Book Club brings all of this homegrown talent into the homes of Canadians and people around the world and invites them into the conversation by allowing attendees to ask the author questions. From January to June 2023, books will be featured from the 2022 Scotiabank Giller Prize longlist and you are invited to join the experience! |
